Terms and Conditions — Repair Services

Last updated: 12 August 2026

These Terms apply to repair assessments, diagnostics and repair services supplied by BenchBod Electronics (“BenchBod”, “we”, “us” or “our”).

1. How the Repair Process Works

Our normal repair process is:

  1. You book a repair assessment through benchbod.com.

  2. You pay the stated assessment/booking charge, currently £10.

  3. We review the information supplied.

  4. We contact you to arrange drop-off, collection or postage of the item.

  5. Where appropriate, we may provide a postage label.

  6. Once the item is received, we inspect and diagnose it.

  7. We provide a quotation for the proposed repair.

  8. You decide whether to accept the quotation.

  9. We will not normally undertake the quoted repair until you have approved it.

  10. Following completion, payment and testing, the item will be returned or made available for collection as agreed.

2. The £10 Assessment Fee

The £10 payment is an assessment/booking fee and is not the quoted price of the repair.

It covers the initial booking and diagnostic process.

If you subsequently approve the repair, the £10 assessment fee will normally be deducted from the final repair charge.

Your statutory cancellation rights are explained below and take precedence over these Terms.

3. Information You Provide

Please give us as much accurate information as possible about:

  • the equipment;

  • the fault;

  • when the problem began;

  • previous repairs or attempted repairs;

  • physical or liquid damage;

  • passwords or access information where genuinely necessary for testing; and

  • any other relevant circumstances.

Incomplete or inaccurate information may make diagnosis more difficult.

4. Sending Equipment to Us

We will tell you whether your equipment should be posted, collected or dropped off.

Where we provide a postage label or arrange collection, you must package the equipment appropriately.

Where batteries are involved, particularly damaged or swollen lithium batteries, you must tell us before posting the equipment because special transport restrictions may apply.

Do not post an item containing a battery that appears unsafe, swollen, punctured, leaking, overheating or otherwise hazardous unless we have specifically confirmed an appropriate method of transport.

5. Inspection and Diagnosis

Electronics diagnosis may require equipment to be opened, disassembled, powered, tested or measured.

By proceeding with the assessment, you authorise us to undertake reasonable diagnostic procedures necessary to investigate the reported fault.

We will exercise reasonable care and skill when handling your equipment.

6. Pre-Existing Damage and Latent Faults

Electronic equipment submitted for repair may already contain damaged, weakened or failing components.

Opening or testing faulty equipment can sometimes reveal previously hidden problems or cause an already failing component to cease functioning.

We are not responsible for deterioration caused solely by an existing defect or condition that could not reasonably have been avoided through the exercise of reasonable care and skill.

Nothing in this clause excludes liability where BenchBod has failed to exercise the care and skill required by law.

7. Data and Backups

Where equipment contains personal files, photographs, software, settings or other data, you should make a complete backup before providing it to us whenever reasonably possible.

Diagnosis or repair can sometimes involve resetting, replacing or reprogramming storage devices or other components.

We will not intentionally access personal information except where reasonably necessary to perform or test the requested service.

We will take reasonable care but cannot guarantee preservation of data where data loss results from the original fault, failing storage media or an operation reasonably required to perform an authorised repair.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

8. Repair Quotations

Following diagnosis, we will normally provide a quotation describing the proposed repair and price.

A quotation may include:

  • labour;

  • replacement parts;

  • consumables;

  • postage or delivery; and

  • other agreed costs.

No quoted repair will normally begin until you approve the quotation.

If additional faults or costs become apparent after work begins, we will contact you before carrying out material additional chargeable work.

9. Declining a Repair

You are under no obligation to accept a repair quotation.

If you decline the repair, we will arrange for the equipment to be collected or returned as appropriate.

Any return postage or collection cost will be explained to you before it is charged.

The assessment fee remains subject to your statutory rights and the cancellation provisions below.

10. Parts

Repairs may use original, OEM, aftermarket, refurbished or recovered components depending upon availability and what has been agreed with you.

Where the type of replacement component materially affects price, functionality or quality, we will explain this as part of the quotation where reasonably practicable.

Removed parts may be disposed of or recycled unless you ask for them to be returned before the repair is carried out, subject to any safety or legal restrictions.

11. Repair Times

Any completion date is an estimate unless we expressly agree that it is a guaranteed deadline.

Repair times can be affected by diagnosis, parts availability, supplier delays and the discovery of additional faults.

We will keep you reasonably informed where there is a significant delay.

12. Successful Repair

A repair addresses the fault or work identified in the agreed quotation.

It does not guarantee that unrelated components will not subsequently fail.

Older or heavily used equipment may contain components approaching the end of their normal service life.

13. Payment

The balance of the repair price is payable as agreed following completion of the repair and before return of the equipment unless we agree otherwise.

14. Uncollected Equipment

If equipment is ready for return or collection, we will make reasonable attempts to contact you.

If equipment remains uncollected for an extended period, we may give you written notice requiring collection and explaining what will happen if it remains uncollected.

We will deal with uncollected goods only in accordance with applicable law. Equipment will not automatically become the property of BenchBod merely because it has not been collected.

15. Cancellation Rights for Online Bookings

Where you enter into a repair-service contract online as a consumer, you may have a statutory 14-day cancellation period.

If you ask us to begin providing the assessment or diagnostic service during that cancellation period, we may ask you to expressly request that the service starts immediately.

If you subsequently cancel after expressly requesting that work begin, you may be required to pay an amount proportionate to services already supplied, where permitted by law.

Where a service has been fully performed during the cancellation period following the necessary express request and acknowledgement, statutory rules may affect your right to cancel.

Nothing in these Terms removes a cancellation right provided by law.

16. Our Standard of Service

BenchBod will perform repair services with reasonable care and skill as required by the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts your statutory consumer rights.

17. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, breach of statutory consumer rights, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

18. Privacy

Personal information and any personal data encountered while handling your equipment will be processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

19. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in England and Wales.

Nothing in this provision removes any mandatory jurisdictional rights available to consumers.

20. Contact

Questions about an assessment, quotation or repair can be submitted through the contact facilities on benchbod.com.
